Salvation by God, Not by Works

Romans 3:28 (NLT)
28So we are made right with God through faith and not by obeying the law.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT)
8God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

I think most of society views Heaven as a place where all the “good” people go after they die. Many truly believe that if you perform enough good deeds and lead a good life, you’ll end up in Heaven. They never say much about God; they just think that being a “good” person automatically buys them a ticket to Paradise.

Thankfully, it doesn’t work like that. It isn’t matter what deeds you perform—what you do or don’t do, it all depends on one thing: Believing that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and accepting him into your heart. That’s it!

No one on earth is “good.” We all sin. So really, we should be glad that’s not how it works. We’d never be able to earn our way into Heaven. Your salvation has zero to do with your actions, and everything to do with God.

It’s a great thing to go around the world, donating to charities and adopting puppies. But that isn’t how you are saved. It’s all about trusting God for forgiveness and believing that Jesus died on the cross for your sins. He paid the complete price for our salvation. All that’s left for us to do is accept it!
