Looking at God

Read

1 Corinthians 15:47-49 (CEB)
47The first human was from the earth made from dust; the second human is from heaven. 48The nature of the person made of dust is shared by people who are made of dust, and the nature of the heavenly person is shared by heavenly people. 49We will look like the heavenly person in the same way as we have looked like the person made from dust.

Reflect

One of the really cool things about Jesus is that when we look at Jesus, we’re looking at God. Before Jesus came, our knowledge about God was limited. But being that Jesus is God, we now have some first-hand interaction with the Almighty.

As you read through the Gospels, pay special attention to how Jesus reacts to different situations. If Jesus is saddened by something, we know it makes God sad, too. If something angers Jesus, we know it angers God. If Jesus is happy about something, God is pleased as well.

Respond

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. One great way to honor Jesus is to model our lives after him. Study his teachings. Learn from his interactions. Let Jesus be your guide in all your life’s decisions. What are some ways in which you could be more Christlike?
