Genesis 2:18 (NIV)
18The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
1 Corinthians 10:13 (CEB)
13No temptation has seized you that isn’t common for people. But God is faithful. He won’t allow you to be tempted beyond your abilities. Instead, with the temptation, God will also supply a way out so that you will be able to endure it.
A member of the track team once told me about her running partner. She said they had made a commitment to meet each other at 5:45 every morning for a run. She said there were a lot of mornings that were cold and rainy and other days when she just wanted to stay in bed. But she got up every day because she knew her friend would be waiting for her. She said she was a much better runner because she had a running partner.
How could your spiritual journey be helped in the same way? What if you had a prayer partner and a standing time to pray together? What if you kept a Daily Devos journal and traded it with a partner every week? What if you had somebody who could encourage you whenever you felt like temptation was pulling you away from God?
Who could be your partner on your spiritual journey? Why not offer this commitment to that person today?
If today’s devotion spoke to you in a particular way and you feel led to share your thoughts with others, please do so.
