My Idol

Read

Isaiah 37:18-20 (NIV)
18“It is true, Lord, that the Assyrian kings have laid waste all these peoples and their lands. 19They have thrown their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods but only wood and stone, fashioned by human hands. 20Now, Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, Lord, are the only God.”

Reflect

Do you have an idol that is before God? It could be money, technology, or even friends! If you do have an idol, wouldn’t it be hard for you to get rid of it? Well, the Assyrian kings threw away the gods they were worshiping.

My idol is technology. My teacher told me, that whenever you have time, you should worship God. Even if it’s just a minute. Do you know
what I do when I get some time? I don’t worship or praise God, but I watch YouTube, or play games.

I realized what I was doing wrong, so on Saturday, instead of playing, I prayed to God. I didn’t know what to do at first, so I just asked Him to forgive me, and told Him all of my concerns. Then I learned that whenever I pray, God accepts it and is honored by it.

Now, instead of just playing on my computer all the time, I praise God for what He has done for me. I also tell Him all of my worries.

Respond

Now, if you have any free time, you should probably pray to God. He has the right to our time, He created us. If you don’t know what
to do, ask a trusted spiritual leader, or maybe ask a parent/guardian.
