Monsoon

Isaiah 51:12 (NLT)
12“I, yes I, am the one who comforts you.
So why are you afraid of mere humans,
who wither like the grass and disappear?

Reflect

Monsoons are powerful storms in which rain just pours down day after day after day. It’s most common in tropical climates. In these storms constant rain pours every hour of every day. There is never a moment when the rain stops.

Sometimes life can feel like a big monsoon that never quits. One day this year, I woke up late for school, ended up spilling Dr. Pepper all over my white T-Shirt, forgot my homework, and even failed a test. Worst of all, I got switched to a new class. When I walked in everyone just stared at me and started to whisper. I felt alone.

That night I went to my room and cried for hours. I didn’t understand why God had put me in this situation to feel like less than a “nobody”.

Sometimes in life, we have to endure days when the rain never stops—when your day never gets better—when it, in fact, gets worse. On these days, we can end up feeling alone, weak, and worthless. We search for comfort and find none.

Maybe you lost a loved one, got into a fight with your friend, or even got bullied.

There is comfort. There is healing. It’s found in God. Every time you feel alone, God is sitting beside you, holding you, comforting you and telling you you’re not alone.

Respond

Maybe today, you’re feeling alone and helpless. Know that there is comfort and healing. God is holding you right now, telling you he is here and he will be your comforter. All you have to do is lean into him and talk to him. God never leaves you alone and he always sees you through the Monsoons. Will you lean into God today and allow him to be your comfort?
