God’s Ultimate Love

1 John 4:19-21 (CEB)
19We love because God first loved us. 20If anyone says, I love God, and hates a brother or sister, he is a liar, because the person who doesn’t love a brother or sister who can be seen can’t love God, who can’t be seen. 21This commandment we have from him: Those who claim to love God ought to love their brother and sister also.

We all think about others negatively. Sometimes, when someone in your class is really annoying, you just think about mean things, like, “Ugh! Why won’t she just stop talking every now and then?” Or, “How on Earth does anybody like him?!” Or it may just be a simpler, “I hate her.” This is definitely not showing love, which we, as Christians should always be showing.

God loves us…no matter what. Even if we do something awful, God still loves us. If God shows us love no matter what we do, why can’t we love everyone around us? 1 John 4:20 says that if we love God but hate a brother or sister, we are liars. I think that God is trying to tell us that we need to love everybody. If we love God, we must love our brothers and sisters.

It is important that we show love to everybody because God loves us SO much that He sent His Son to die on the cross…for US. That is ultimate love. Nothing can beat that. Nothing. But we can show the ultimate love of Jesus to others through us so that they might come to know Him.

I encourage you to show love to everyone you know, no matter what, because God loves us no matter what. So whether it is a “Hey, I appreciate all that you do for me,” or controlling your tongue and your thoughts, find some way to show love to everyone. And don’t forget to show love toward God.

“I love _____” is used a lot on Earth, but we come to realize how much God loves us, we start to understand what real love is.
