Psalm 116:1-6 (NLT)
1I love the Lord because he hears my voice
and my prayer for mercy.
2Because he bends down to listen,
I will pray as long as I have breath!
3Death wrapped its ropes around me;
the terrors of the grave overtook me.
I saw only trouble and sorrow.
4Then I called on the name of the Lord:
“Please, Lord, save me!”
5How kind the Lord is! How good he is!
So merciful, this God of ours!
6The Lord protects those of childlike faith;
I was facing death, and he saved me.
I think, most of the time, we are just like David. When we know God has heard our cries for mercy, of course we are going to love him. But sometimes, when we don’t see instant results, we might begin to doubt. Our love for God can begin to drift away and even turn into anger. We need to guard against that and stay in love with God.
When it feels like God isn’t answering your prayers, stop and remember all the times He has. Then, pray for patience as you wait on God’s will to be revealed to you.
