Mark 4:38-41 (NLT)
38Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”
39When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. 40Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
41The disciples were absolutely terrified. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “Even the wind and waves obey him!”

Why do we worry? Because it is easy. It’s easy to believe worrying is a solution when things go wrong.

It was easier for the disciples to believe they would drown in the storm than it was to believe God was on a boat with them and had power over it.

As humans, we gravitate to what’s easiest. It seems easier to use credit cards than to save money. It seems more convenient to get fast food than to cook a homemade meal. People seem to think every strange way of dieting is better for weight loss than it is to work out regularly and eat healthy!

We like easy. But “easy” is a quick fix, not a real solution.

When you feel the urge to take the easy route, remember that God didn’t call us to “easy”. He called us to a life of faith.
